As is the case in most European countries, public broadcasters play an important role in the media landscape. This is also true for Slovenia, where the public broadcaster is one of the cornerstones of news, art, and even popular culture. And RTV Slovenia, though over 90 years old, is no stranger to technology, so their new leap into OTT is a well thought one.
The new app features 6 live HD linear channels and 8 live radio channels being produced by the national broadcaster. It also provides access to the organization’s vast digital archive, including amazing recordings of some of the world’s greatest musicians which were recorded by their experts. The app truly brings the best of Slovenian video and sound to Hisense Smart TVs. The app has also been released in neighboring Austria, Hungary, and Italy, where ethnic minorities of Slovenians live, as well as Croatia, where people have always found interest for Slovenian content.
The RTV Slovenia application is a major step for VIDAA and fills an important gap in the market that now has apps from both the leading commercial and public broadcaster, as well as the largest cable and IPTV provider.
